Providing Support with Assistive Technology to Participants with Special Needs
Before knowing about what support with assistive technology you can avail at Community Care Empowerment, let us first understand what AT or Assistive Technology is. According to the NDIS, assistive technology is —
“Any device that allows people with restricted mobility or developmental delays to perform day-to-day tasks they would otherwise be unable to perform, or a system that improves the safety and ease with which they perform those tasks”.
If you or your loved ones qualify for this funding, you can get in touch with our support team. We’ll work closely with the participants, primary carers to implement these technologies into their plans and meet their specific needs.

Assistive Supports Qualified Under the NDIS
At Community Care Empowerment, we can provide:
- Aids and mobility equipment that foster better and independent functioning in one’s own home or out in the community (including permanent prosthetics and orthoses)
- Home modifications to help people with special needs live freely and comfortably (including installing grab rails, ramps, widening the doors, and installing elevators if possible)
- Routine, non-clinical care to carry out daily living chores (like oral suctioning, bowel care, etc.)
- Supervising care from highly trained and experienced support workers (catheter changes, skin integrity checks, etc.)

Funding Assistive Technology in Your NDIS Plan
Under the NDIS, assistive technology is funded under the “Capital Supports” category. It includes customisation, delivery, repair, and maintenance of the assistive technology. This includes AT for child participants (aged 7 to <18) and adult participants (aged 18 to <65). We are open to assist you either at your home, office, clinic locations, shared accommodation facilities – whatever suits you!
